The Strand
The third of Jasko Development's mixed-use buildings being built in downtown New Britain will rise in the footprint of the fabled Strand movie theater that entertained generations of New Britain residents near the bustling corner of Main and Chestnut Streets. The theater closed long ago, but it has remained a warm touchstone in the hearts of many area residents. This new 100-unit building with 3,330 Sq. Ft. of ground-floor retail construction will be designed to reference the grand old theater.
Jasko Development will set aside 20% of the Strand's 100 apartments for mid to low income applicants. The remaining 80 units will be leased at market rate. There will be two ground floor retail /restaurant spaces totaling 3,330 sq ft.
Jasko's three new mixed use siblings, The Strand, The Brit and The Highrailer, will transform New Britain's urban landscape by adding a total of 321 residential units and over 12,000 square feet of prime restaurant/retail space to the cities walkable downtown. The Strand will be completed the last to be completed in 2026.
All three of Jasko 's 6 story mixed use apartment buildings in New Britain are conveniently located adjacent to the downtown New Britain CT Fastrak station and are only a few minutes drive from routes 9 & 72.
The state of Connecticut's Connecticut Communities Challenge Grant program, is contributing $4 million through the state Department of Economic and Community Development. will go toward The Strand project. That funding program is and the City of New Britain toward building The Strand, a movie theater-themed mid-rise tower that Jasko Development LLC intends to open in mid-2025.
