NEW BRITAIN — The city has been awarded a 2014 Connecticut Main Street Award of Excellence for Public Space by the Connecticut Main Street Center. Public Works Director Mark Moriarty called it “a very prestigious award.”

HARTFORD — New Britain Downtown District Director Gerry Amodio is excited about the Connecticut Main Street Center program. “The future of downtown depends on whether people are willing to move back to the inner city and live here,” says Amodio, who applied for the award. “This state initiative is a bold step.”
